THE NATIONAL PROJECT WEEK 8: THE DAY!
Today we present our pitch to Jason, and I'm fairly nervous. PREPARE MODEL I came in extra early to glue on all the pieces and run a light test. I'm so happy with how it turned out! REHEARSAL The rest of my group arrived late and we were the first to present, which made me anxious for a moment. Despite that we managed to have a good rehearsal mainly thanks to Hannah who is a genuinely a gifted speaker, and the worries went away. OUR PITCH FOR THERME It went well. Also yo

THE NATIONAL PROJECT FINAL WEEK: BIOLUMINESCENT CAVE MAKING
MONDAY 6TH JANUARY We have a week left before our deadline and still theres much to do. Most important of all is making the glowworm cave, since that is the climax of the experience that we want to wonder Jason with in virtual and physical form. With more than half of my group sick or unavailable, I've come into uni almost every day from close to finish to complete the model and other parts of the project (i.e the presentation) along with Alex who's focusing on Twin motion. THE NATIONAL PROJECT WEEK 5 : EXPERIMENTATION
While building the model, I also wanted to help my group mates. MONDAY 2ND DECEMBER AMELIE'S ARDUINO WATERFALL Amelie was trying to recreate the idea of a glowing/interactive waterfall using ardino and 3D printing methods. The blue lights will flicker in a downward direction like raindrops, which is intended to be relaxing to look at. First she printed the waterfall, then coded the arduino. We sewed led's to fabric and connected it to a circuit playground, and after a few tri

NATIONAL PROJECT WEEK 4 : FOREST PROTOTYPE MAKING
Today I started working on the model that Amelie and Hannah drew out. This model is meant to show viewers an accurate idea of our biome concept and how it can function realistically. I was practically obsessed with modelling as a kid. My favourite thing was those £15 arts and crafts boxes they used to sell at Argos. I'd make animals, birds and castles which I'd bring into school. My year 3 teacher would get so frustrated because he'd accidentally keep sitting on my castle whi

THE NATIONAL PROJECT WEEK 3: VISUALISATION
MONDAY 11TH Referencing off Hannah's initial concept designs I drew out my version to help me fully understand the groups vision, and assist in model making. FRIDAY 15TH Our Immersive Biome is designed to bring different pieces of the Planet to one place in Manchester, in ways you would not expect. To support this vision I made mood boards compiling things from the natural world which inspired us. These are not random images for each one is significant, in context and purpos

THE NATIONAL PROJECT WEEK 2: EMPLOYABILITY
As part of this module we have to also start developing our employability materials specified for the creative industries; which consists of a portfolio, curriculum vitae and linked in account. I'm glad that we are doing this at the same time as my placement search since this will aid me in finding one, or to at least apply for the jobs I actually want. This page will show how I've worked on this over the next few weeks. MONDAY 4TH During the class discussion a few weeks ago

THE NATIONAL PROJECT WEEK 1: INTRO
MONDAY 28TH Today we begin the National Live Project. This module focuses on real-world challenge-based learning, through a nationally located live brief set by an external client, user, community or audience. We are commissioned by visiting professor Jason Bruges, founder of Jason Bruges Studio, to develop a spa concept for the upcoming Therme wellness centre in Manchester. Building on skills developed in the previous modules, the scope is now bigger, with a national perspec
